Abstract
Some open bite can be relieved by intrusion of molars in non-extraction approaches, which is usually suggested for patients with acceptable facial profiles or non-hyperdivergent skeletal patterns. In cephalometric analyses, mesial angulation of molars¡¯ axes is frequently observed in patients with open bite. Therefore, a treatment strategy is to correct anterior open bite by both clockwise rotation of maxillary molars and counter-clockwise rotation of mandibular molars, resulting in uprighting and intruding force of molars. Using this manner, clinicians are recommended to reinforce skeletal anchorage by placing microimplants into alveolar bone between the first and second molars. In this case report, we have successfully treated an anterior open bite patient with transverse disharmony by managing vertical dimension using microimplant.
